Post of the Day--A Royal Wedding!!

I was so excited when I heard the news yesterday that Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged.

Above, the dashing couple steps out.  I love her hat!

I have been a loyal Anglophile for a long time, and I especially loved Princess Diana.  I remember the build-up to the wedding.  And, I especially remember getting up really early that morning and watching the wedding while lying on Papa and Grandma's kitchen floor in Montana.  I was mesmerized staring up into their large console TV.

I remember glimpsing Diana and her dress and all of the ladies-in-waiting and the flower girls around her.  There were some children from the classes that she taught as a preschool or kindergarten teacher and I thought that was pretty cool.  Generally, I was just enamored with the idea of a princess, I suppose.

This could be because of another Princess Diana (a.k.a. Diana Prince), my real favorite--

How can you not love that girl?  She is so plain and simple--that big grin and those HUGE glasses!  It's no wonder no one ever guessed her true identity...

Wonder Woman!!!!  This photo even has the cape (I loved her costume changes) and a signature.  It is a practically perfect photo.  And, I'm sorry, but Lynda Carter is a stunning beauty--then and now.  Of course, I did also have a small crush on Steve Trevor.

I guess I was just being patriotic--crushing on a hero in a uniform.  Well, when I was looking for an image of Steve Trevor for this post, I came upon an image that I was not expecting.

That's right, he was a Playgirl Man of the Month Award Winner.  I should point out that though he was a hunky sex symbol, the actor Lyle Waggoner has been married to the same woman since 1961.  Oh yeah, I was talking about marriages.  Even though the marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles (I never had a crush on him[fuddy-duddy]) did not work out, I have high hopes for our Prince William of Wales and the future Princess of Wales.  I can't wait to get up early for their wedding in 2011, thirty years after my first Royal Wedding!

p.s.  I did write a letter to Princess Diana in 1983; I received a response from one of her ladies-in-waiting.  I'm sure Mom has that letter in a save box somewhere.
