The big event in Portland while I was in town was the delivery of my new niece,
Abigail Grace!
Char shows off her belly before the delivery; she was feeling pretty good and relaxed this time around.
Abigail was 20 inches long and weighed in at 9 pounds. She is so cute and scrunchy on the scale!
Abby was born at Portland Providence Hospital on Tuesday, August 31 at 1:05 p.m.
Abby liked to be bundled up and in someone's arms...
Proud Auntie! Of course Abby was passed around. TJ got to hold her soon after she got to the family room after the surgery.
Abby was prodded, poked, weighed, changed etc. many times in the first hours after being delivered. She was a trooper. Abby soothed with some swaddling and comfort.
Proud Daddy! Greg loves his three girls (four when you include Char) soooo much!
Proud Mommy! Char was enjoying getting to know little Abby.
Proud? sissy! Well, Bella wore a cute sign that her Aunt Alanna made for her. But, she was pretty leery of the whole situation surrounding Abby.
Bella entertained several of us in the waiting area while Char fed Abby. Aunt Alanna gave her the 'Pebbles' look with her hair.
And, Aunt Alanna played with Bella. Bella was entertaining us and we were entertaining her!
Proud Uncle! On Day 2, I was able to spend quite a bit of time holding Abby. I loved every minute of it. She is so cuddly, soft, and warm!
I took this while she was sleeping in my arms.
I love her! She is so stinkin' cute!!! Words can't describe how precious she is!
While Greg helped Char at the hospital, I got to hang out with Bella. We played and napped and thoroughly enjoyed it! Bella is a great kid. She is an incredibly sweet toddler. Bella has a Flexible temperament. She laughs easily and communicates with sounds and many signs.
Bella is also a great model. She doesn't mind that I want to dress her up! And, don't freak out, I only put her in one outfit on most days. We didn't have any fashion shows, but she would have totally went along with it if I had wanted to do it.
I think she looks so pretty in this picture. She is just a very thoughtful, observant child. By Day 3 at the hospital, she knew which room was Char and Greg's!!!
I feel so lucky to have had this time with Bella. I know that she may not remember a lot of the things with clarity, but I believe she will have heart memories of knowing me when she was just a wee one.
Bella is willing to try most foods. I found out she loves toast, likes macaroni, and likes spinach. She really is an awesome kid!
I'm heading to Idaho to spend the week at my family's time share there. I will be catching up on class work and job work, but I will be missing Portland--especially two sweet sisters named Bella and Abby!

i love your comment about heart memories. that is so sweet, and i believe it too. bella and you are lucky to have had such fun together this week!
abby is SO CUTE!! her cheeks! they are so chubby and adorable! greg and char sure know how to make cute babies.
i also loved your youtube link to the temperaments video. i don't know what i enjoyed more, feisty megan shoving all the other kids out of the way to sit on the couch, the child rolling out of the caregiver's arms as he was bottle fed, or the awesome tom selleck inspired moustache.
Thanks, ECL! I am so glad I was able to be with Bella!
And, yes, Char and Greg do make cute babies. Abby is just a little bundle of cuddles!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video...did you consider which temperament style you, Cookie, or I might be???
Think about it!
Love you and thanks for everything this week, too!
