Dominican Spaghetti??

One night Wil came home from work and exclaimed, "I want to have spaghetti tonight." I thought that sounded great. I was really interested when he got out the potatoes and started slicing them. Then he fried them up. I thought,'wow, there's going to be potatoes in the spaghetti sauce, that's different.'

For Wil's sauce, heat oil in a pot, add 1 cube bouillion, sliced onions and saute. Add 3 T tomato paste, 4 cloves chopped garlic. Stir in some butter. Add 1 t vinegar. Cut 2 fresh tomatoes into the pot. Add a few squeezes of lime and 3-4 green olives and 1 t olive juice.

I kept waiting for the potatoes to be added. Wil is a sauce and pasta mixer. So to the sauce he added almost 1 pound of cooked spaghetti noodles and stirred the pasta in to coat with the sauce. Then I thought, 'now he is going to add the potatoes.'

Finally, I asked him when he was going to add the potatoes. He told me he wasn't putting them in the spaghetti. Of course, I should have known. When one serves a starch as the main dish, one compliments that with a starch as a side dish. I told him he reminded me of my Aunt Barb from Kentucky. She served incredible meals full of starches with starches! And, I've since noticed that sometimes here I am served macaroni with a red sauce along with rice, beans, and meat. So starches with starches lives on!

Sorry the picture is turned on the side. But you get the idea. Wil put the last of the smoked salmon that I brought him from the U.S. on the spaghetti. Delicious!
