Where is the Orchidearia?

Here I am on the little train that took us through the Jardin Botanico (Botanical Garden) last week. This adventure started out because I wanted to visit the Orchidearia, a hot house that is free and supposed to have more orchids than the Jardin Botanico, which is supposed to have more than 300. Wil didn´t know where the Orchidearia was located, but he knew how to get to the garden, sort of. So we started out on our adventure. We caught a bus and went for a little while on a road that felt like it was leaving town. Wil spoke to a lady on the bus and she told him to get off and cross the road to catch the bus going the other way. It was funny because when we got on that bus, our driver from the first bus was a passenger. So, we rode the bus some more. We passed the point where we had boarded the first bus, near our apartment, then we went toward the ocean, then we turned and again went by the area near our apartment. And then we drove along the garden for a couple of blocks. The driver dropped us off right out front. Ahh, we made it. I was a little hungry at this point, but I wanted to power through since it had taken almost 2 hours to get to our location within the city!! Our admission included the train ride and a museum entrance. The train ride was about 35 minutes, with a 15 minute stop, through the entire garden. It was cool and comfortable on the train.

We were allowed 10 minutes to look at the Japanese Garden within the Botanical Garden. There were only 5 of us on the train, but we stretched the stop to 15 minutes.

We were being tourists for the day!

This is a cool tree in the Japanese area of the garden. No, I don´t know it´s proper name, let´s just call it "cool tree" okay?

Posing near the water garden exhibit.

And, the orchids!!! For those of you that grew up with orchids around all the time (Jen), you may want to skip the next photos. For those of you, like me, who thought of orchids as exotic and tropical and usually saw them made into a corsage at Mother´s Day, view on.

There is a tree here that people had carved many names into the fruit. Wil found Dana´s name and was so excited. We didn´t carve it ourselves...

These were all Wil´s idea, if you can believe that. Yes, I´m engaged to a guy who likes cheesy pictures too!

Don´t we look precious among the orchids? We had a great afternoon at the Jardin Botanico. I don´t think I´ll probably ever make it to the Orchidearia, so I took a lot of pictures of the orchids here.
